Sudak is a popular resort city where there is everything you need to relax: beaches, guest houses and hotels with their own parking lots (for those who travel around the Crimea in a rented car, this is a big plus), restaurants and cafes with reasonable prices and, of course, an atmosphere of complete serenity and tranquility. Do not expect any outstanding sights from Sudak - people come here not for excursions to historical places, but for a lazy vacation on the coast. Nevertheless, in Sudak there is still something to see: for example, a medieval fortress, a museum of the history of winemaking and a small temple from the beginning of the 19th century. If you travel with children, do not forget to visit the local water park, which will certainly interest young travelers.
The most popular view of Sudak is a view of the medieval fortress, built in the XIV-XV centuries by the Genoese in the colony Soldaya. Due to its location (on all sides it is protected by mountain slopes), the fortress was impregnable and served as an excellent defensive structure. The ruins of the fortress walls, several towers (among them Portovaya and Maiden), the temple of the Twelve Apostles, the Consular Castle and the remains of ancient barracks have survived to our days. From the observation platforms at the very cliff opens magnificent views of the surroundings.
The temple, built in 1819-1829 at the expense of local residents. People donated not only their savings, but entire vineyards for the construction of a new Orthodox church. In 1868, the Pokrovsky temple was visited by Empress Maria Alexandrovna with the future Emperor Alexander III, and in 1912, on the way to the New World, Nicholas II came here, who allocated a lot of money to repair the temple. Until 1936, the church was open to visitors until it was decided to demolish it and build the Pioneer House in its place. However, this did not happen - the start of the Great Patriotic War prevented. During the period of German occupation, services were held in the temple for some time, which ceased with the end of the war. They began to revive the church in the 90s, when it became the property of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Having rented a car, go to the picturesque village of Novyi Svet, where in 1878 Prince Lev Golitsyn founded the famous sparkling wine factory. The Museum of the History of Winemaking was opened in 1978 on the 100th anniversary of the creation of the New World factory. In the seven halls of the museum there is a large collection of the Prince’s personal belongings, archival documents and photographs telling about how winemaking developed in the Crimea. In addition to visiting the exposition, the tour includes champagne tasting, which will be a pleasant end to a walk in the museum.
For a romantic dinner, the Brigantine restaurant is located on the pier and offers its visitors a lovely view of the sea. A varied menu (salads, barbecue, seafood, pasta), a good bar card with local wines, pleasant music in the background and attentive service - “Brigantine” is a worthy alternative to establishments common in Sudak, working on the principle of ordinary eateries. For quality food and privacy against the backdrop of the sea landscape, be sure to come here.
A cozy cafe that differs from local establishments in its chamber atmosphere and emphasis on European cuisine. Here you can drop by for a light lunch or dinner, as well as tea with sweets. Especially successful in "Lampshade" pastries, which can be ordered to take out. It’s good to wait out the midday heat - WiFi works without interruptions, and you don’t feel like getting out of soft velvet chairs.
A bar that is ideal for a quick snack on the way to the beach, or for an evening cocktail. The menu includes snacks, burgers, steaks and barbecue. Locals especially praise samsa with meat. Bar Burger often hosts DJ sets, theme parties and lodgings, so visitors to this place never get bored.
