Ras al-Khaimah - the northern emirate with picturesque mountain views, ancient architecture and picturesque surroundings. Having rented a car, it is worth visiting the areas of Masafi and Haat, famous for healing mineral waters, to visit the ancient mosque of Jazirat al-Hamra and the dilapidated fort. A win-win option for fun for children and adults at the same time - Ice Land water park with many slides, pools and a shopping center. Glancing at one of the restaurants with national cuisine, you should definitely try the Egyptian grilled pigeon and lentil soup. In Ras al-Khaimah, unlike other emirates, alcoholic drinks are allowed, so you can safely taste local specialty cocktails.

The National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah is located in an 18th-century fort. Until the second half of the 20th century, the residence of the rulers of Qawassim was located here, and later a museum was opened with an extensive collection of ethnographic, archaeological, natural and cultural exhibits. The fort museum consists of sections of different tiers. The most significant collections (manuscripts, historical exhibits, ancient weapons belonging to the ruling family) are on the upper floors. The lower part presents archaeological finds discovered in the emirate. The pearl of the collection is terracotta urns of the 18th century and mosaics.
Dafan al khor
In a rental car, go see the largest shrine of the emirate - Sheikh Zayed Mosque. It is located near the city promenade. The first thing that impresses is the scale and grandeur of the Muslim temple. It can be viewed from the outside, and tourists are allowed inside at certain hours. By the way, the mosque was built in honor of the first president of the country, similar architectural structures are in every emirate, including the most distant - Ras al-Khaimah.
King Faisal St., al Majaz, 1
The main observation deck of the city, where all photographers and connoisseurs of fascinating views invariably draws, is Fort Dhaya. Built in the 16th century, the fort was considered a military fortress of strategic importance. The favorable location (it is located on a mountain) made it possible to control the situation in the territories and instantly respond to intrusions. At the beginning of the XIX century the towers of the fort were destroyed, the attraction needed restoration. And only a few decades ago, the former appearance of the historical place was restored. Today, every tourist has the opportunity to go up here, explore the surroundings and enjoy the panoramas of the city.

After renting a car, head to the Ice Land Waterpark. This is perhaps one of the most visited places in the city where tourists boldly go with the whole family. Amusement rides are popular: the Aqua Games game zone with a football field, which is flooded with a thin layer of water, The Boomerango, Tornado Spin Slides, Slide Zone. For children, a children's bay with small slides, sandboxes, a pool with artificial waves is equipped. The most visited place in the water park is “Penguin Falls” (the world's largest artificial waterfall).
Al-Jazeera is a small village near Ras al-Khaimah or “another view of the Emirates”. There are no famous skyscrapers, colorful quays and fashionable hotels. They say that in this village there were the very first settlements of the country, but when the oil fever began in the seventies, people left the town in search of better living conditions. It was not demolished, and tourists have a unique opportunity to look at what was in Ras al-Khaimah before a sharp jump in development. There is no asphalt (flat layers of sand instead), the buildings are abandoned, but the only thing that reminds of the old culture is the decoration of the premises with Arabic motifs. Walking from building to building on the walls, you can see rock paintings, somewhere you can see old ornaments. Old mosques with preserved decoration and former grandeur will certainly impress.
Having rented a car, go 60 kilometers from Ras al-Khaimah to the small emirate of Umm al-Quwain, where valuable architectural monuments have been preserved. Here you can stay for a couple of days, staying at the Barracuda Beach Resort or Palma Beach. The first step is to inspect the three watchtowers and take a picture on their background. Then you can go to the date garden of Falaj al-Muala or enjoy a huge variety of birds, going to the island of Al-Sharyah. You will get to know the various inhabitants of the underwater world at the Marine Research Center, and get an adrenaline rush at Dreamland Water Park. Those who in the old fashion want more historical facts and ancient artifacts will enjoy spending time in the Umm al-Quwain Historical Museum. The collection contains the most extraordinary samples from different eras.
Saturated with ancient cities, abandoned villages, you should go on a cruise along the Oman Peninsula. Of course, during the tour you can find out interesting facts, mystical stories and legends, talk with the locals, but the main purpose of the trip is the incredible beauty of the views, clean air and catchy pictures. Depending on what you want, the duration of the cruise may vary, respectively, and the places that will meet on your way.
If you want to not only look at historical and cultural sights, but also improve your health, you should visit the mountain village of Kat, known throughout the district for its sulfur springs. Therapeutic gases penetrate the body through the pores of the skin, mucous membranes and respiratory tract. Such therapy helps to stabilize blood circulation, strengthen immunity, relieve inflammatory processes, and normalize the functioning of the central nervous system. You can plunge into the healing water without a bit of embarrassment: separate pools are equipped for men and women. It is worth remembering that there are a number of cases when this therapy is contraindicated: heart defects, tumors, low blood pressure, varicose veins, diabetes. Before visiting such pools it is better to consult with specialists.
