Florence International Airport is located just 5 minutes from the amazing open-air museum, preserving the life and work of Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Dante, Machiavelli. The center of Florence is the soul of the Renaissance world, where magnificent collections of art objects in the galleries of the Medici dynasty and grandiose architectural creations are preserved: the Basilica of San Lorenzo of the 4th century, the Baptistery of San Giovanni, the Giotto's bell tower with a bewitching view from the observation deck, the Palazzo Vecchio with its preserved interiors a bridge with colorful houses and jewelry shops, Signoria Square with the famous statue of David and Hercules. The city center is closed to cars, but you should consider renting a rental car to visit nearby cities.
The airport building consists of one terminal, in which almost 3 million passengers arrive annually. There is an extensive recreation area where you can relax while waiting for a flight, a small duty-free shop (it is better to take care of buying souvenirs in the city), an information desk and baggage tracing, car pick-up points on the ground floor. The airport does not work from one in the morning until 4.30 in the morning, so early flights should not be arrived very prematurely.
The city can be reached by taxi at a fixed rate of 20 euros, which increases by 3 euros on holidays and by euro for each piece of luggage. Regular express buses run to Florence Central Station, allowing you to reach the center in 15 minutes and 7 euros. Although the car may not be useful in the city, most tourists use the services of rental leaders to visit romantic Venice with unique palaces and canals, the bustling Naples at the foot of the active volcano Vesuvius, the city of Romeo and Juliet Verona, medieval Siena. The reserved car can be picked up at the rental desk or later in the city, which can also be selected in advance on the website.
